By TIM DAHLBERG AP Sports Columnist LAS VEGAS — The urge struck me about halfway through Mike Tyson’s latest adventure, just after he told the audience about how his mother loved the bottle more than she loved him. Or maybe it was when the big video screens showed a young Tyson serving as a pallbearer for Cus D’Amato, the man who molded his boxing career and the only man he really loved. The former baddest man on the planet once made opponents and anyone who came into his path shake with fear. On this night, though, it was all I could do not to run up on stage and give him a big hug. Surely a lot of those gathered in a hotel theater just down the hall from where Tyson had some of his biggest fights felt the same way. How could they not after watching him bare his soul for assorted VIP’s and anyone willing to pay $117.49 to hear his story? It was billed as “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth” and there’s still time to catch it if you have the cash and can get to the MGM Grand hotel before Wednesday’s final performance. Beware, though, because this is more about Tyson’s greatest misses than it is about his greatest hits. “Many of you wondered what the hell Mike Tyson was going to do on stage tonight,” Tyson said at the beginning of the show. “I was wondering the same thing.” Actually, I had a good idea because I’ve been listening to it for years. So did Tyson, because the show is mostly scripted — credit is given to wife Kiki — and he knows the subject material because he’s lived it. That he’s still alive at the age of 45 after all that living is remarkable enough, a fact Tyson himself acknowledged on stage. Mike Tyson visited “Conan” on Tuesday night to promote his tell-all one man show in Las Vegas this month, but we think he was really there to try out some new comedic material on Mr. O’Brien. After telling a few stories about getting pulled over by the cops while high on cocaine and finding his ex-wife Robin Givens with Brad Pitt, Tyson revealed to Conan that if he writes a book, one of the chapters would have be called “Jesus Reigns Supreme.” Since Tyson is a Muslim, Conan is pretty intrigued by the beginning of the former world champ’s explanation as to why J.C. rules all, but by the end, Conan just can’t believe he fell for what Tyson had in store. “The Baddest Man on the Planet” never donned wrestling tights, but Mike Tyson made an impact during several appearances for the WWE. As a result, the former heavyweight boxing king will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31 in Miami, the day before Wrestlemania 28. Tyson first worked for Vince McMahon’s company back in 1998 at Wrestlemania 14. He was the special enforcer for a brawl between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. Tyson reappeared in the squared circle in 2010 as a guest host during “Monday Night Raw.” First welcomed into WWE by Mr. McMahon, “Iron Mike’s” introduction was interrupted by The Texas Rattlesnake, resulting in a wild brawl between the two tough guys. Weeks later, Tyson aligned himself with HBK and D-Generation X. WWE fans who thought this association would sway the brawler’s involvement at WrestleMania XIV were shocked when Tyson ended up being the one who counted the pin to give Austin his first WWE Title. After the bout, the heavy hitter knocked an angry Michaels out cold in front of a rabid Boston crowd. “I was the youngest heavyweight champion of all time, but the most fun I ever had in the ring was with WWE,” Tyson told AP. Vegas intruder wakes Mike Tyson

An intruder who broke into a Las Vegas hotel room had a lucky escape from its sleeping occupant — boxing legend Mike Tyson. The former heavyweight champion was staying at The Cosmopolitan with his family following Stevie Wonder’s New Year’s Eve concert, when he was awoken by rustling sounds and a flashlight, TMZ reported Thursday. By the time the 45-year-old realized what was happening, his unwanted visitor had left empty-handed. Hotel security was called and is investigating the incident, sources said. A rep for The Cosmopolitan said, “We have received a report of an incident that is currently under investigation. As always, guest safety is of the utmost importance.”

Mike Tyson and the final bout of his career

By Jenna J – Iron Mike Tyson, the youngest man to ever claim a portion of the heavyweight championship and a fighter once known as the “baddest man on the planet”, officially retired from boxing June 11, 2005 after a surprising defeat to unheralded Kevin McBride. The fight itself saw the former Champion struggling to land his shots, getting fatigued rather quickly and ultimately fouling his opponent in more ways than one in what was becoming a competitive fight. At the start of the 6th round, Tyson sensing some urgency put forth an attack on McBride in an effort to end the match, but saw this attempt like many of his others on the night ending with the much larger man tying him up. This was the beginning of the end for Tyson, as he let frustrations overtake him and began to foul McBride. First came a warning from Joe Cortez for trying to break McBride’s arm in a clinch, and then came a two point deduction for an intentional head butt that left Kevin bleeding from the eye. Undeterred by what was happening in the ring, McBride continued doing what he had done all night and that was simply tying up, leaning on, and hitting Mike with short shots on the inside. At the end of the 6th round, McBride leaned on top of Tyson once again, this time causing Mike to collapse to the canvas where he struggled to get back to his feet. Once back to his corner, his trainer Jeff Fenech decided Mike had enough, and called a halt to the match, leaving the once most feared boxer in the world retiring on his stool.
